Sony Ericsson launching eco-friendly handsets – Elm and Hazel
Sony Ericsson plans to launch the Elm and Hazel, two eco-friendly handsets and the VH700 handsfree device. All three products boast recycled plastics, an e-manual, minimised packaging, a “green calculator” and “Walk Mate” eco apps and are free from hazardous chemicals. WalkMate is an application that gives the opportunity for users to check how much they are saving in terms of CO2 via the “green calculator”. Sony Ericsson said on it targets a cut of 20 percent of its carbon dioxide emissions by 2015. Sony Ericsson Elm, has a candybar with a curved case. The specs of Sony Ericsson Elm include: 2.2 inch QVGA display, HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS, Google Maps, “10 days free weather forecast with Accuweather”, “clear voice and intelligent volume adaptation”, social networking integration (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter), push email, 5MP autofocus camera with Led flash, 280MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support. It will be available starting the first quarter of 2010, in two color versions (Metal Black and Pearly Rose).
