Skype announced beta version of their Symbian application
Skype have announced a beta version of their Symbian application today and it has a lot of features and comes close to the desktop version. The app will work over WiFi or 3G. The Skype for Symbian Beta is compatible with Nokia’s Symbian S60 Feature Pack 1 (v3.1) and Feature Pack 2 (v3.2) devices. This includes models such as the Nokia N95, N95 8GB, N82, N85, N79, and N96.The hefty 4.2 MB installation file takes up 6 MB of your phone’s internal memory. This app allows users to make VoIP calls using Skype’s proprietary protocol. Features such as free Skype-to-Skype calling, receiving calls to the user’s Skype number, and calling landline phones with Skype credit are supported. Instant messaging (Skype-to-Skype), group conversations, and file transfer are also supported with this native application.
