Garmin introduced two new lines in their Nuvi Series. We have discussed the 2200 Series, and this post is about the 2300. The 2300 is similar to the 2200 series, as it has ecoRoute software and myTrends predictive destinations, but their screens are 4.3 inches, slightly larger. The 2300 has maps from the 48 continental states, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Grand Bahama Island, and the Caymans. The 2350 adds Mexico, the 2350LT adds lifetime traffic, and the 2350MT has lifetime maps and traffic. Also included in the 2300 Series are 2360LT and 2360MT, with Bluetooth wireless for hands-free calling, not to mention 2370LT, preloaded with North American and European maps. The 2350 is $209.99, the 2350LT is $229.99, and the 2350MT is $269.99. As for the 2360LT, it is $259.99, and the 2360MT is $299.99, the same price as the 2370LT.

Poynt has been updated to version 1.6 to support BlackBerry 6

Poynt has been updated to version 1.6 and includes some minor tweaks/fixes as well as support for BlackBerry 6. Updates mostly include fixes for the Torch version to keep things running smooth like trackpad and touchscreen problems. Samsung Expanding its Green Memory Initiative

Verizon officially confirmed Samsung Fascinate would be available on September 8

Verizon officially confirmed that the Samsung Fascinate would be available online starting tomorrow, September 8. Verizon’s retail stores will also offer the Fascinate, but only starting September 9 (Thursday). As expected, the Fascinate costs $199.99 (with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate). Like all Galaxy S smartphones, Verizon’s Samsung Fascinate features a 4 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5MP autofocus camera, and HD video recording. The Fascinate will run Android 2.1 at launch, but an update to Froyo should be released later this year. Verizon is the last giant US carriers to introduce a Galaxy S handset, after AT&T launched the Samsung Captivate, T-Mobile the Samsung Vibrant, and Sprint the Samsung Epic 4G.

BlackBerry App World reached 10,000 applications

According to Research In Motion, the company now has over 10,000 applications in their application store, App World. While 10,000 is not a number to be scoffed at, BlackBerry pales in comparison to Apple’s 250,000 apps and Android’s estimated 100,000 figure. RIM also has the challenge of fighting Google and Apple in the application quality department; BlackBerry apps are probably the most unpolished at this point. Let’s hope RIM’s developer conference — DevCon — will kick things into the next gear.

Sharp 3D Cameraphone Concept presented at IFA 2010

Sharp cameraphone prototype supports 3D image capture and 3D playback presented in IFA 2010. The handset looks very much like an iPhone 4/Samsung Galaxy S hybrid with a touch of the Fujifilm Real 3D W3 camera, featuring two sensors at the back. Just like the Nintendo 3DS, this device is based on a lenticular lens, allowing users to view 3D content without those pesky glasses. Sharp says that this 3D display phone is coming before the year end and it’s supposed to feature a 3 inch screen. The company also wants to bring this technology to higher diagonal units, reaching up to 10.1 inches so 3D tablets are also included.

WIND is bringing the Android-powered Motorola Milestone XT720

WIND may be bringing the Android-powered Motorola Milestone XT720. This rumor may have been substantiated with a new screenshot showing an online training webpage for their new Motorola Milestone XT720. This is an especially interesting spot for Wind because the XT720 is a high-end smartphone that the major carriers in Canada, like Bell, Rogers, and Telus don’t offer yet. The source of the news has the XT720 pegged for a release towards the end of the month, but no word on what the pricing will be like. Features of the Motorola Milestone XT720 include:
