Previewed last February during CEBIT 2008, ony Ericsson’s upcoming W980 is scheduled for a Q3 release. With its unique audio enhancing technology, coupled with Sony’s “Walkman On Top” design, Sony Ericsson is touting it to set a new standard for mobile phone music. This phone basically places the common music oriented buttons on top of the flip covering the phone’s keypad. Further very enticing features include: built in FM transmitter, which allows it to share its music with nearby devices capable of receiving FM signals (read: almost every phone in the market). This does seem a lot better than the Zune’s “squirting” of music.
Other features of the W980 include:
- Accessing Walkman features from standby mode
- Preset equalizers
- SensMe, PlayNow, TrackID,
- Bluetooth Stereo
- 3.2 Megapixel camera
- Up to 8GB internal memory
