Telus offering the BlackBerry Torch 9800 on September 24th
Telus announced via Twitter that they too will be offering the BlackBerry Torch 9800 on September 24th. Both Canadian carriers are set to release now on the same day making for lots of happy folks. Unlike Rogers however, Telus made no mention of the pricing in their release, but it’s a pretty safe bet to say it will stick to the $199/3-year pricing scheme. No extra information has been posted up on Telus’ site just yet.
Comcast launched 4G generation high-speed wireless data service in Boston
Comcast launched its 4G or fourth generation high-speed wireless data service in the Boston area as the company continues its nationwide rollout of High-Speed 2go. Today’s launch builds upon the success of Comcast’s High-Speed 2go 3G offering, which was introduced in May 2010. Comcast’s High-Speed 2go is a mobile Internet solution that provides the fastest available wireless Internet speeds in the nation via wireless data cards. Comcast now offers a fourth-generation or 4G wireless service in addition to a nationwide 3G wireless service. Comcast is selling this wireless service bundled with one or more of its popular Internet, phone and television products, providing mobile broadband wherever and whenever customers need to be connected.
T-Mobile’s newest myTouch HD coming on November 3rd
T-Mobile’s newest myTouch handset, the myTouch HD, has been had its fair share of leaks. TmoNews has reported that the myTouch HD should be available almost exactly two months from now on November 3rd. Sadly, the latest doesn’t reveal anything about the myTouch HD’s specifications. The handset itself is best known for having that shiny green colored jewelry code name – Project Emerald. The myTouch HD is expected to be utilizing the HSPA+ network that T-Mobile has been boasting. This myTouch HD is like the G2, it doesn’t look like there will be a QWERTY on this model. It’ll surely be interesting to see what future high-end offering will come to fruition out of all this.
Starbucks has released their Starbucks Card Mobile app for BlackBerry
Starbucks has released their Starbucks Card Mobile app for BlackBerry. This cool app lets you convert your Starbucks card to digitalness and keep all of your info right on your device. Just enter your card number and the app can display your barcode, lets you track your balance and more. In some test areas (looks like only the Bay Area and Seattle) you can even pay for your drinks using your card number in the app – very cool. The app looks to be available for most devices and you can grab it by texting GO to 70845.
Huawei announced official launch of the Ideos: affordable, accessible Android 2.2 handset
Huawei announced the official launch of its affordable, accessible Android 2.2 handset, the Ideos. The Ideos handset comes complete with a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display (320 x 240), 528 MHz processor, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera (no flash), HSDPA 3G, Wi-Fi, 3G hotspot capabilities, and a micro-SD card slot. The device carries the “with Google” moniker (which means no Android skinning of any kind) and Huawei touted that Google was heavily involved in the designing of the Ideos. The company elaborated that Google’s direct involvement with the Ideos would ensure its owners OS updates with minimal delay, Nexus One style. The device will be available in mid-October for right around $175 off-contract; no word yet on whether or not this little guy will be coming Stateside. The phone is obviously meant to make an Android 2.2, touchscreen handset available to the masses… time will tell if the masses choose to oblige Huawei’s efforts.

New update to the TomTom App for iPhone is coming soon. The new update demonstrates TomTom’s commitment to provide continued innovations and an enhanced navigation experience. Now, TomTom users will have a new way to enter destinations using photos, turning their photo gallery into an address book. Samsung Galaxy Tab: may be More costly than Apple’s iPad
Samsung Galaxy Tab is wondering about is its price. The 16GB version of the Galaxy Tab might be going for EUR699 ($896), which is similar to Apple’s 32GB iPad 3G, despite using a smaller display. Aside from that, the price of EUR799 ($1,025) was also mentioned by some parties, with British retailer Expansys listing it at GBP680 ($1,048), which is comparable to Apple’s 64GB iPad 3G. Despite Apple’s iPad lacking front and back cameras and a memory card slot, it’s still the tablet to beat at the moment, and if these rumored prices are close to being accurate, then the Galaxy Tab might be facing an uphill battle to topple the iPad.
