How to get promo codes for top ups?

The only way I knew of to get a promo code is to let your account lapse. About a week or two after it lapses, VM will send you a one-time use promo code that only applies to your account. Of course you can't use your phone during the week or two that it has lapsed, so this is only a useful trick for people who don't use the service regularly or who have a backup phone to use in the meantime.

If you call VM customer service to top up and insist that you have a working code (this month's would be 062007) then some reps will credit it. If someone denies your request, hang up and try again. About the code, every month it changes, for example: 062007 is June, 072007 is July etc. I read this on a Virgin Mobile blog, so I can't attest for its trueness, although some of the comments confirmed it. But really, how desperate can you be for $10...Good luck
