Default Avoid Blackberry Data Roaming Charge While Getting emails

if you travel a lot especially out of the country it is fairly expensive for the data charges . The following is a way that you can bypass the system and pay no roaming fee while checking your emails. The cheapest data roaming charges from any cell service provider is 5 cents per kb which is not bad, however, they have a 10 kb minimum. If you do the calculations keeping an average email is 2k, so instead of costing a reasonable 10 cents, they now cost me 50 cents because of the kb minimum charge. And if you get 100 emails a day, then you are looking at data roaming charges of $50 per day which is horrendous.

Now try out the following solution to save you lots of money if you are going overseas with your BB.

First, you should unlock your BB. You can go to ebay and get it unlocked for 4/5 bucks.

Next you have to setup a Gmail account and have Gmail POP your ISP email or work account.

After this, you download the Gmail Java programme from Google that is made for your Blackberry. This allows the BB to get Gmail from your phones web browser.

Next you buy a local, prepaid SIM card, based on whereever you are. The prepaid SIM allows you to access the web through the browser using WAP or Edge. I have accessed my Gmail account using the web browser program from my BB that did not have a BB data plan.

This procedure allows you to bypass the BB data access point.
