Default Samsung SC-HMX10 8GB Flash Camcorder Goes for $800

Competition definitely has heated up in the HD flash-based camcorder market, so either the manufacturer has to slash the price or throw in more features (eg. storage). In the case of the new SC-MHX10, Samsung has done both by introducing it for less than $800 and packing it with 8GB built-in flash memory. Other camcorders of similar size mostly bundle with a 4GB flash card, but the slot would be taken and such capacity will only give you 40 minutes of 1080i recordings. The Samsung SC-MHX10 has an edge over other contenders with built-in memory and a SDHC.

The price also seems right. The unit when shipping in September will retail for several hundred dollars less than Sony HandyCam HDR-CX7 and Panasonic HDC-SD1. The tapeless camcorder utilizes a 1/6" CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom, and the 2.7" LCD will be a touch-screen as well. For HD output, there's a HDMI, and for exporting to a PC/Mac, there's a mini-USB 2.0 port
