Default Some History About Bell in CA

BCE is Canada's largest communications company, providing the most comprehensive and innovative suite of communication services to residential and business customers in Canada.

Under the Bell brand, the Company's services include local, long distance and wireless phone services, high-speed and wireless Internet access, IP-broadband services, information and communications technology services (or value-added services) and direct-to-home satellite and VDSL television services. Other BCE holdings include Telesat Canada, a pioneer and world leader in satellite operations and systems management, and an interest in CTVglobemedia, Canada's premier media company.

The wireless division, Bell Mobility Inc. (Bell Mobility), provides wireless communications services nationally under the Bell Mobility and Solo Mobile brands. In addition, we have a joint venture with the Virgin Group to offer wireless services under the Virgin brand across Canada.

Our wireless network provides voice services, and data services at typical transmission speeds of approximately 120 Kbps delivered over our existing single-carrier radio transmission technology (1xRTT) network. In 2005, we launched Canada's first Evolution, Data Optimized (EVDO) wireless data network in Toronto and Montréal. EVDO technology is the third generation (3G) of wireless networks delivering average data download speeds of 400-700 kilobits per second (Kbps) with peaks of up to 2.4 megabits per second (Mbps).

At the end of 2006, BCE's wireless network covered:

-95% of the population of Ontario and Québec
-approximately 90% of the population of Atlantic Canada
-The major cities in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia
