Default How to enable T-Zones on iphone

This was defenitely a very tricky thing to do but i have made it a lot simpler here and it should not take more then 5-10 minutes.

There are many ways to do this but my preferred way is to use ibrickr which can be downloaded by
clicking here:
http://ibrickr.com/downloads/ibrickr_v0.91.zip

or if you need more info visit:
http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr

You will ofcourse need a jailbroken iphone and any info on how to jailbreak can be found on
the above website. jailbreaking simply means you are activating your iphone to install and use third party programs.

A little background on ibrickr:
ibrickr is a great program that basically takes your iphone and makes it into a sort of
external harddrive. So basically you can add and remove things from your iphone like you
would with your usb flash drive. This is truely a great piece of software and i recommend
everyone who has an iphone to use this utitliy for all your iphone needs. And one of the
coolest thing you can do with ibrickr is upload mp3 ringtones to your iphone. ibrickr
automatically enocodes it and places it in the correct dircetory so it can be accessed simply
by going into the ringtones settings of your iphone.

ibrickr looks something like this:

Anyways, on to the good stuff.
Once your phone is recognized by ibrickr or if you chose another program or alternative
method then you need to download the following file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/67616245...roxy_files.zip
Make sure that the zip file contains two files:
proxy.pac
preferences.list

Okay you are almost done.

Once you have verified that you have both files open up ibrickr.
Next click on files and on the fake iphone browse to the following directory--->"/private/var/root/"
now upload only the proxy.pac to this directory.

Next on the fake iphone browse to the following
directory--->"/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/"
now here there should already be a preferences.list file.
You can either delete it and upload the new one or you can just upload the new preferences.list and overwrite the old one. Either way should be
fine.

Once you do this you are done. Restart the iphone by holding down the sleep button for 3
seconds and once you turn it back on you should be able to use the t-zones service.

Now you do need the $5.99 tzones service and it wont be that fast but it does work. So if you
get lost somewhere and need directions but are unable to use google maps because you dont
have wi-fi access you wont mind having the slow t-zones service to bail you out.
Hope this guide was helpful and if you have any questions let me know.

Default T-Zones

Hi, I just followed your directions regarding t-zones and it didn't work? I couldn't use ibricker because I have 1.1.1 so I used WinSCP. Any suggestions? Thanks Missy

Default newbie

Hi,

I'm deathly scared of doing something like this but really don't want to pay $15 a month. I am using a mac and haven't been able to find up-to-date info on hacking into tzones. I thought yours was going to be it until I saw the instructions were for pc. I can't use ibrickr I don't think. I have hacked my iphone on t-mobile with 1.1.1 update and I have the $5.99 plan.

Will these instructions work on a mac with a program besides iBrickr like Ifuntastic?

Sorry is this makes little sense.

Default t-zones

Hi, Like I said earlier I tried the above method but it didn't work, so I found something else and tried that and its working now. Go to settings then general then network and under APN put internet2.voicestream.com. Let me know if it works

when you said you "found something else" what did you mean?

Did you use the steps above and just changed the APN or did you find a totally different method?

I meant I just found another solution. I did exactly what I said above. Just change the APN

Default above directions will work with mac

all of these instructions should work with mac. all ibrickr does is makes your iphone accessible to your pc.
if you are using a mac the equivalent program i beleive is iNdepence or something rather.

u still need the two files, and they still need to go into the following directories:
proxy.pac --->"/private/var/root/"
preferences.list --->"/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/"

you can use whatever method you like to copy these files to their respective directories.

u can try missy's method if you like some people have had sucess with it.
However if you follow the above the directions of putting these two files in the correct directories you dont have to enter anything for apn.
The preferences.list file will automatically fill out the apn as wap.voicstream.com and username and password as guest which is what it needs to be to function correctly

and also you dont need the $15 plan. the $5.99 will work with it.
