Default Alltel is Bringing Talk to text in USA for the first time

SpinVox, the British speech-to-text-message group, will today announce its largest US deal so far in a move that could come as a precursor to a fresh attempt at a flotation next year. SpinVox, run by Christina Domecq of the Domecq sherry dynasty, has signed up Alltel Wireless. The Arkansas mobile operator will offer its 12 million customers access to SpinVox's service later this year. Alltel is America's fifth largest mobile operator by user numbers after AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile, but the largest by geographic foot print.

The SpinVox service is used by smaller local carrier Cincinnati Bell and is available in Britain through Carphone Warehouse, which also backed the firm, and Phones4U. SpinVox also has a deal with Skype, while Vodafone is understood to be planning a UK launch.
